TV24 Report: With tremendous excitement and vibrant participation, the sixth edition of one of the most significant, inclusive, and multidimensional events in Bangladesh’s ICT sector—BPO Summit Bangladesh 2025—concluded successfully on 21 and 22 June 2025 at Senaprangan, Dhaka. Organized by the Bangladesh Association of Contact Center and Outsourcing (BACCO), and supported by the ICT Division under the Ministry of Posts, Telecommunications and Information Technology, along with the Business Promotion Council under the Ministry of Commerce, the summit reflected a national commitment to the transformation and advancement of the BPO sector.

Centered around the theme “BPO 2.0: Revolution to Innovation”, this year’s summit spotlighted the evolving path of innovation within the outsourcing industry. The event brought together domestic and international tech companies, policymakers, young professionals, and global partners, turning the summit into a truly world-class platform. More than 30 local and international ITES and BPO organizations showcased their services and products during the two-day event. Nine thematic seminars and workshops explored the overall growth, technological innovation, and business potential of the BPO industry, featuring 86 esteemed speakers from home and abroad, including IT experts, corporate leaders, and senior government officials. Discussions on cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, future employment trends, skills development, and IT policy provided insight into the roadmap for building a future-ready Bangladesh.

Among the major attractions were various Expo Zones and Experience Zones, offering visitors a firsthand encounter with future technologies. These zones featured experiences such as Starlink satellite internet, immersive AR and VR exhibits reflecting on the July student uprising, drone and submarine technologies, and robot displays—which introduced visitors, especially youth, to new technological frontiers.

The summit also prioritized youth engagement through dedicated career counselling sessions and a job fair, particularly aimed at students interested in the outsourcing industry. Through interactive workshops, they learned about the potential and career prospects in BPO, and more than 100 job placements were facilitated from the hundreds of submitted resumes.

A separate seminar focused on the realities, challenges, and future plans for freelancers, offering a platform for experience-sharing and advocacy. Speakers emphasized the need to institutionalize and organize freelancing in Bangladesh, highlighting the pivotal role of freelancer forums. Policy-level discussions also took place with participation from various government departments, ICT policymakers, tech entrepreneurs, and researchers, stressing the importance of policy reform to enable sustainable growth in the outsourcing sector.

Women’s leadership in the workplace was addressed through a dedicated seminar focused on equal opportunities, safe environments, and empowerment in the BPO sector. Speakers emphasized that women’s skills are critical for inclusive growth and sustainable development in the industry.

Another vital session explored the role of banks, mobile financial services (MFS), and international payment gateways in facilitating global outsourcing. Experts from financial institutions and diplomatic circles discussed the importance of smooth financial flows, global partnerships, and sustainable export growth through outsourcing.

The closing ceremony was graced by Dr. Anisuzzaman Chowdhury, Special Assistant to the Chief Adviser, Economic Relations Division, Ministry of Finance, as the Chief Guest. Mr. Mahbubur Rahman, Secretary, Ministry of Commerce; Dr. Md. Nazrul Islam, Former Secretary, Ministry of Foreign Affairs; Mr. Abu Sayed, Director General of the ICT Division; Mr. Tanvir Ibrahim, President of BACCO; and Mr. Faisal Alim, General Secretary of BACCO were present as Special Guests. The ceremony was presided over by Mr. Shish Haider Chowdhury, ndc, Secretary of the ICT Division.

In his opening remarks, BACCO President Tanvir Ibrahim shared the achievements and future roadmap of the industry, stating that BACCO currently has over 430 members and has created more than 85,000 jobs, generating over USD 850 million in annual revenue. He emphasized BACCO’s target to create 300,000 sustainable jobs and reach USD 5 billion in exports by 2030, and expressed that this summit is a milestone toward achieving that vision.

Commerce Secretary Mr. Mahbubur Rahman remarked that the BPO industry has opened a new frontier for export earnings and that the ministry will continue providing policy support for its growth. Dr. Md. Nazrul Islam, former Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, stressed the importance of diplomacy in promoting Bangladesh’s BPO sector globally and recognized the summit as a key step in expanding international networks. Mr. Abu Sayed, Director General of the ICT Division, noted that in the era of the Fourth Industrial Revolution, the BPO sector is playing a significant role in youth employment through the use of technology and assured continued support from the ICT Division.

Presiding over the event, Secretary Mr. Shish Haider Chowdhury, ndc, reflected the government’s positive stance on the industry’s growth and said that BPO is becoming a vital pillar of Bangladesh’s technology-driven economy. He stressed the need for proper guidance and training to engage youth in ICT, noting that the BPO Summit has opened such a gateway by transforming the next generation into drivers of export earnings through technology.

In his concluding speech, BACCO General Secretary Mr. Faisal Alim extended gratitude to all participants and stakeholders. He highlighted that the summit fostered a strong community and has established BPO not merely as a job opportunity but as a career path for the youth. He also stated that Bangladeshi freelancers are a vital force in the global outsourcing ecosystem, and through dedicated summit sessions, their challenges and opportunities were addressed. He reaffirmed BACCO’s future commitment to supporting freelancers in collaboration with the government and international partners.
