TV24 Correspondent : Bangladesh Association of Software and Information Services (BASIS) is going to organize BASIS Outsourcing Award for the 7th time.
A Meet the press was held at BASIS Auditorium in this connection today. BASIS President Syed Almas Kabir presided over the press conference, while BASIS Ms. Farhana A Rahman, Senior Vice President and Adviser of BASIS Outsourcing Award 2021; Mr. Mushfiqur Rahman, Vice President (Finance); Mr. Rashad Kabir, Convener of BASIS Outsourcing Award 2021 and Director of BASIS, Mr. Md. Zia Arfin, Senior Executive Vice President and Head of International Affairs, Bank Asia and a representative from MasterCard Bangladesh were present at the program.
In the beginning, the convener Mr. Rashad Kabir highlighted the overview and planning of BASIS Outsourcing Award 2021. He said that the registration process of BASIS Outsourcing Award 2021 will start from October 28, 2021. Interested persons or organizations can register till November 11, 2021. After that, a total of 100 Awards will be conferred to the awardees through a step-by-step screening by the Judges in two categories. There will be 20 awards at the institutional level and 80 at the individual level. At the organization level, there will be 5 awards in the Outsourcing Organization category, 5 in the Startup category, and 10 in the Export Excellence category. At the individual level, the award will be given to 64 personale in 64 Districts, 6 personale in the individual women’s category, and the best 10 personale in the outsourcing professional category.
BASIS Senior Vice President and Advisor to BASIS Outsourcing Awards Farhana A. Rahman, encourages women to focus on online outsourcing at home and she also added, “We need to develop skills as technology advances”. One of the primary aims of the event is to make visible and recognize those individuals as well as organizations who are working from remote areas, highlighting their contribution to exports, and making individuals who are doing freelancing personally entrepreneurial by creating companies, according to her.
Senior Executive Vice President of Bank Asia Mr. Md. Zia Arfin thanked BASIS for organizing the BASIS Outsourcing Award every year in his speech. He said, from the very beginning Bank Asia has been supporting the event and will continue to do so in the future. He also added, “I believe that this arrangement will lead to not only the export of the IT sector will increase but also it will encourage individuals and organizations in online outsourcing in almost all districts and remote areas of the country.”
BASIS President Mr. Syed Almas Kabir mentioned in his speech that the government has set a target of 5 billion US dollars in export revenue by 2025 from Software & ITES sector. To achieve the stated target, a 10% cash incentive on the income earned in this sector has already been introduced. BASIS works in unitary with the government to find several new markets. He also added that we need to further strengthen public-private initiatives to improve our skills to innovate new products and services in the expansion of the international market. In addition to this, he added that the cash incentives should be increased by 20% at least for next 3-5 years from now.
In the implementation of the Digital Bangladesh Vision, the issues on which our domestic software and software services are already being used successfully need to be taken to other countries of the world. In this regard, BASIS has been requesting the government. This is because the cooperation of the government along with BASIS is essential in taking appropriate initiatives to expand the international market to achieve the export targets.
