KOICA and ICTD Launch $28.5M AI Innovation Project in Bangladesh

Techvision24 Desk: The Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) and the Information and Communication Technology Division (ICTD) of Bangladesh have officially signed a Minutes of Meeting (MoM) to launch a $28.5 million (as grant) project titled as ¨Fostering Innovative Technology Experts with a focus on AI in Bangladesh¨. The project focused on advancing Artificial Intelligence (AI) expertise and driving technological innovation in Bangladesh.

The project, which will run from 2026 to 2035, includes the establishment of a state-of-the-art AI-Hub Center at Software Technology Park-2 in Dhaka. Key elements of the initiative include AI-centric training programs, sponsorship for master’s and doctoral degrees, incubation of tech startups, and opportunities for collaboration with leading Korean companies.

KOICA will provide financial resources, technical expertise, and advanced equipment, while ICTD will offer critical infrastructure and manage the operational aspects of the project. This collaboration aims to position Bangladesh as a regional leader in AI innovation, contributing to sustainable economic growth and addressing national challenges with AI-driven solutions.

The Minutes of Meeting (MoM) was signed by Mr. Taeyoung Kim, Country Director of KOICA, and Mr. Shish Haider Chowdhury,ndc, Secretary to the ICT Division. From GoB side all the Head of Organizations and senior official of ICT Division and from KOICA side Deputy Country Director and Feasibility Study Expert Team of Korean Government were present during the MoM Signing Ceremony.

Further details of the project will be finalized after the approval of the fiscal budget by the Korean government later this year.
