Techvision24 Desk: Bangladesh University of Business and Technology (BUBT) organized a seminar on “Mental Health Awareness: Building a Mentally Healthy Society,” aimed at addressing the growing need for mental well-being in academic and social spaces.
Dr. Atiqul Haq Mazumder, a leading psychiatrist and the keynote speaker, emphasized the importance of early intervention and community-based support. “Mental health must be treated as a necessity, not a privilege,” he said, calling for increased awareness and accessible care.
Lieutenant General (Retd.) Dr. A K M Zafrullah Siddiq, Chief Guest and Member of the BUBT Trust, praised the initiative, stating, “We must prepare our youth not just intellectually, but emotionally as well.”
Prof. Dr. Kazi Md. Noor-ul Ferdous, also a Member of the BUBT Trust, stressed the need for supportive academic environments and teacher training in mental health awareness. “Let’s make mental wellness a daily conversation,” he urged.
Md. Ataul Islam, Technology Management Specialist from IDEA, BCC, ICT Division, highlighted both the challenges and opportunities presented by technology in mental health. “We must guide youth to use digital tools wisely to support their well-being,” he said.
Presiding over the seminar, Prof. Dr. A B M Shawkat Ali, Vice Chancellor of BUBT, affirmed the university’s commitment to nurturing both the minds and mental wellness of its students.
In his welcome speech, Dr. Md. Harun-or-Rashid, Registrar of BUBT, set the tone for a constructive dialogue on mental health awareness.
